The opioid epidemic has resulted in an unprecedented amount of suffering in our country.  Unfortunately, the problem is far from over and has perhaps been worsened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  What are we as a society to do?

First of all, some folks may need pain medication to deal with the ravaging effects of injury after car crashes and work injuries.  In our practice, when I feel that may be the case, we refer our patients to reputable physicians who are experts at safely treating pain with appropriate medications.  However, we don’t stop there.  We continue to see and treat the patient as they require, and refer them to other providers when necessary.  Our goal is to find the cause of the pain and to change it for the better.
